According to Pete Blowers, president of DPC, Charlotte, North Carolina, Princo L2000 RF level controls provide the level indication signals that help DPC systems fill the dye tubs to a precise point -- using a specific recipe stored in the DPC system. Any errors in level or the dye additions could negatively affect the color of the textiles in the tub, so DPC and its customers need level controls that are as precise as they are reliable. Combining the need for precise control with hot, corrosive ambient conditions places considerable pressure on the level control to perform. According to Blowers, the fact that Princo can offer a 10-year warranty is a real indication of the reliability of its level controls. “Although the 10-year warranty is a big plus, we rarely see the need for repair or replacement of any Princo units.” That was not the case, however, when DPC tried several other level controls. “We tried both an optical system and a competitor’s ultrasonic system, but they just could not hold up to the conditions in the dye houses. Our systems see rapid temperature swings from 60ºF to 212ºF, and many level controls we tried could not hold up under those conditions. We would see too many failures, and that didn’t speak well for our systems.” In fact, according to Blowers, the few problems they have seen with the Princo controls usually result when their customer takes off the housing cover and dyes or chemicals get into the control. “Our systems have been out there for five years without a problem with the Princo controls.” Blowers said there are many features they like about the L2000 controls. The time delay adjustment helps the system take into account any splashing in the tub. The inert measurement probe doesn’t affect the dye operation, and the probes’ lengths can easily be altered in the field to match their customers’ situations. “We get real good feedback from the field about the Princo unit. And whenever we have dealt with Princo and its sales representative, they have been very, very helpful and service oriented. All in all, every aspect of using the Princo product has been positive.” |
